Who is Brandon Harton?
Well, he’s just a guy who walked-on the team and impressed the coaches enough to be offered a scholarship at the end of camp. Due to the number of off season departures from our roster, there were a number of scholarships freed up to be earned by others more deserving and I think it says a lot about Brandon that he was one of them.
I don’t know about you guys but I’m excited to see what he can do. And this won’t be the first time we’ve seen Brandon Harton running the ball for the Dawgs. Here are a couple of his plays from the Coastal Carolina game earlier in the season:
Unfortunately, both of those plays were called back due to penalties. Still, it’s easy to see that Harton’s got some skills. His diminutive stature doesn’t prevent him from hitting the hole fast with the ability to cutback. And maybe it’s the number but he kind of looks like a smaller Thomas Brown out there.

Nice. I think these smaller guys are misunderstood and misused. They seem to make very short, quick steps and torque up immediately. It’s like how a scooter, with small tires, can deliver power to the road faster than a motorcycle with large wheels. Sure the cycle is faster on the top end, but from a dead stop, the small wheeled scooter is faster.
Murray seems to be fast in a similar way.

Good point. I enjoy watching highlights of Barry Sanders, particularly the slow motion ones where he seems to not really be in slow motion compared to everyone else around him. And Carlton Thomas certainly shows a bit of this shiftyness when he can get into space. I like the lack of hesitation that Brandon Harton seems to show. He hits the hole quickly.
