These Are the Rebels We’re Looking For

You know, in this post about our game yesterday afternoon against the Ole Miss Ack-bears, I was going to make an allusion to the Empire crushing the Rebel Alliance on the ice planet of Hoth, like the beginning of The Empire Strikes Back. Or how we targeted the planet of Alderaan, obliterating it from exisitence, leading to a situation where it was “…as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced.” Yeah, I was going write about all of that. But I didn’t want to be mistaken for a Georgia Tech blogger. So forget I mentioned it.

I could have sworn they said that Dawgs’ basketball game was supposed to be played in Oxford, Mississippi. Because it looked to me like it was played behind the woodshed. We put up 53 points in the first half. Fifty three! All of our starters scored in the double digits, with Gerald Robinson, Jr. leading the way with a career high 22 points. And our defense stifled Ole Miss, holding their leading scorer, Chris Warren, to half of his season average.

I think yesterday’s whoopin’ of the Rebels was about as complete a game as I’ve ever seen the Dawgs play. All of this after coming off a tough loss to Vanderbilt as well as having to endure an extended period away from home. Oh, and it’s Coach Fox’s first SEC road win. How ’bout that?

I’m so proud of our guys for hanging tough in the face of adversity. And I’m proud to call Mark Fox our coach. Next up, Tennessee, in Stegeman on Tuesday night.

How ‘Bout Them Dawgs!
