Maybe next year

There sure was a lot of smoke but, as yet, no fire. The Chair of SEC Presidents and Chancellors, Dr. Bernie Machen, released this statement just moments ago:

“We met today and reaffirmed our satisfaction with the present 12 institutional alignment. We recognize, however, that future conditions may make it advantageous to expand the number of institutions in the league. We discussed criteria and process associated with expansion. No action was taken with respect to any institution including Texas A&M.”

While this leaves the door open for future expansion talks (and “future expansion talks” could be as soon as tomorrow for all we really know), as of right now, things are just as they were.

I can’t say I’m too upset. I like having twelve teams. But when the time is right, and Dawgs fans always know what time it is in Texas, I’m sure we’ll make the best moves possible to ensure that, like it is now, the SEC remains the best football conference in the nation.

One Response to “Maybe next year”

  1. When you discuss “criteria and process” with respect to expansion, you are surely not shutting the door to expansion
