Interesting rankings

Saw this article by Marc Weiszer regarding Vanderbilt coach James Franklin’s rankings in the final USA Today’s Coaches Poll and noticed this bit:

Only two coaches put Georgia higher: N.C.State’s Tom O’Brien at No. 7 and San Jose State’s Mike MacIntyre at No. 9.

First of, Tom O’Brien is a former US Marine. Enough said there. And Mike MacIntyre started his collegiate coaching career at UGA back in 1990. Good men, both of them! (Yes, I know Tom O’Brien’s Boston College Eagles beat us in the Music City Bowl back in Coach Richt’s first season. Still, I find no shame in losing to a Marine).

And then there’s this:

Brigham Young’s Bronco Mendenhall was the only coach not to rank Georgia on his top 25 ballot.

Come on, man! 1982 was a long time ago!
