Mark Beard commits!

We’ve picked up another offensive lineman recruit in Mark Beard, a JuCo transfer from Coffeyville Community College in Kansas. Listed at 6’5″ 295 lbs, Mark should be able to step in and play right away.

“I felt at home at Georgia,” said Beard.

Originally from the Birmingham, Ala., area, Beard was previously recruited by Georgia offensive line coach Will Friend, who was on the staff at UAB at the time.

Always nice to have well-connected Friends. Mark will begin classes in January, joining Keith Marshall and Faton Bauta as early enrollees.

So, let’s see. We’ve got John Theus, Greg Pyke, Chester Brown and now Mark Beard committed. I’d say we’ve been focusing on a position of need and if things work out as well as we all hope, we may be adding a couple of other o-line recruits in Avery Young and Brandon Greene. That should make our running backs and quarterbacks smile, don’t you think?

Welcome, Mark Beard and how ’bout them Dawgs!

  1. Know who else committed to Georgia? Tray Matthews! Check out his twitter, or mine (Roninjinn), as he tweeted me he commmitted just 5 minutes ago.
