Coach Richt: No to Explosives

Posted in Fearless Leader, Other People's Business, Pre-game jitters, Safety First!, Tension Breaker with tags , on Friday September 2nd, 2011 \pm\30 4:17 pm by Big Muddy Dawg

I don’t normally pay too much mind to the misfortune of others, especially if it doesn’t involve Tech. But I just read this story about Dan Kendra, a highly-rated QB prospect back in the ’90s who, after a circuitous route, ended up signing with Florida State, where he struggled to get on the field. He also struggled off the field:

“We don’t want him messing around with explosives anymore,” quarterbacks coach Mark Richt told the newspaper.

Maybe it’s the imminent arrival of our season that’s causing this sort of low-grade delirium to buzz along in the foothills of my mind, but I found an inordinate amount of humor reading that line by Coach Richt.

Rambo sighting

Posted via linebacker Christian Robinson’s Twitter:

Coach Richt continues to observe radio silence on safety Bacarri Rambo’s situation, although he did mention the other day that Rambo has “been preparing. He’s getting all the reps.” And now we see that he’s at least making the trip to the Dome.

For what it’s worth, according to OBNUG, Geraldo Boldewijn is listed as sharing a starting role at wide receiver while Cedric Febis is a starting safety and Ricky Tjong-A-Tjoe is a back up defensive tackle.

We went through a similar thing with AJ Green at the start of last season so I definitely know how frustrating news like this can be to a fanbase that’s just excited and ready for their team’s season to start.

UPDATE: These three guys are all from Amsterdam. There are a few points to be made at this juncture but I’m just going to settle on this one: it’s a shame these guys got caught up in something bigger than themselves because, as we all know, only bad things can come of associating yourself with the color orange: Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Tennessee… the Dutch (sorry, Nikka).

Famed dietician to join staff with nutritionist

Famed dietician, John Atkins, has committed to the Dawgs for the 2012 season! This news comes after we picked up a superstar nutritionist just yesterday. Guess the Dawgs are taking this whole eating right thing to a new level. Because, remember, to be successful in strength and conditioning takes more than hard work in the gym. One must also commit to making a lifestyle change through healthy eating.

Leather Helmet Blog was able to capture some video of John Atkins as he lectures on the virtues of a high-protein diet:

By the way, Atkins committed to the Dawgs over Tech, among other rivals. His reasoning: “I just couldn’t talk them Tech boys out of stopping by The Varsity for a red dog or a naked steak. Good riddance.”*

*John Atkins may or may not have actually said this thing.

Check out that crazy looking helmet. What’s with all that red? Looks old-fashioned.

Tight end Orson Charles got his hair did for the big game.

Looks like Nike might be designing Pro Combat hairdos as well.
